Diltiazem HCI ER Tablets, 120mg

Diltiazem HCI ER Tablets, 120mg, is a prescription medication used for treating hypertension and certain cardiac arrhythmias in dogs and cats. It is particularly effective in treating supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a type of arrhythmia with a fast heart rate, and feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. As a calcium channel blocker, it blocks calcium ions from entering the cells of the heart and blood vessels, resulting in a slower heart rate, relaxed and dilated blood vessels, and lowered blood pressure. It can be used as a maintenance medication or in emergency situations. Diltiazem is also known for its ability to slow down the electrical signals in the heart muscles responsible for its contractions, which is helpful in treating certain arrhythmias. This medication is available in an extended-release tablet for accurate dosing.
