Ketoconazole Tablets, 200 mg

Ketoconazole is a commonly used medication for treating fungal infections in dogs, cats, and other small animals. Additionally, it has been proven effective in the clinical treatment of hyperadrenocorticism in dogs. This drug may also be used in palliative care for dogs with extensive or invasive tumors, when surgery is not feasible. In some cases, it may be administered to dogs before surgery to help stabilize their condition.

Possible Side Effects

Gastrointestinal signs of anorexia, vomiting, and/or diarrhea and weight loss are the most common adverse effects seen with ketoconazole therapy and are more prevalent in cats. Dividing the dose and/or giving it with meals may minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Appetite stimulants such as oxazepam or cyproheptadine may also be of benefit in cats.
